The Lake District

The Lake District is the largest National Park in the United Kingdom. It's outstanding beauty is world renowned. Visitors flock to this area to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, to climb scafell amongst other peaks or to enjoy the active watersports scene. In fact it was Lake Coniston that inspired Arthur Ransome's 'Swallows and Amazons'. Books that are dear to not just the British, but people all over the world. You only have to travel to Windermere to find the home of 'Beatrix Potter', another literary masterclassic. William Wordsworth was also born & lived in Cumberland, part of Cumbria in the Lakes. If the Lake District can't inspire you, nothing will !
